TABLE OF CONTENTS

Network and Infrastructure

  • ACME recommends doing a complete test of a PoS terminal and Access Control in their final locations prior to go-live to verify network connectivity.
  • ACME recommends a fully segregated network for your box office devices, accessible only by equipment used for ticket sales (iPad, ticket printers, receipt printers, card readers, and other box-office equipment).
  • See Optimizing Your Box Office Network Configuration for more details.
  • Make sure the final terminal locations have accessible ports and power supply, and that cords can reach and connect easily.
  • Consider using zip-ties or cable keepers to keep terminals neat and organized.
  • Consider labeling peripherals with IDs or names to assist with connecting devices and make it easier to distinguish between terminals. We recommend having a 1-1 pairing between an iPad and the peripherals.

Point of Sale Devices

iPad

  • To successfully run ACME PoS, we require high speed internet. Ethernet connection is recommended for the best experience.

  • ACME recommends having hotspots to use for back-up connectivity in case of local network issues.

  • When using an ethernet connection for PoS, ensure that the WiFi is turned off from the settings menu, otherwise it will interfere with connectivity.

Note: Ensure that your iPad allows ACME Sales to connect to your local network, You can check this in iOS Settings>Privacy>Local Network>ACME Sales. This Privacy settings is required to connect with printers and card readers on your network.

Epson Receipt Printer

  • Printers come with a small starter roll of receipt paper, so we recommend stocking up before go-live. Additional rolls of receipt paper can be purchased from any major office supply store. Please see the printer’s User Manual for specifications.

  • This printer can be used for receipts and tickets, and must be enabled separately in the PoS configuration menu for each.

Ethernet Connection (recommended)

  • iPad and Epson printer must be connected to the same network, then select the printer via the configuration menu on the PoS.

  • If the Printer doesn’t show up in the menu, then either:

    • The iPad or printer can’t connect to the network

    • The iPad and printer are connected to different networks

  • See the Ethernet Printer Troubleshooting guide for more details.

Bluetooth Connection

  • Must connect to the Epson printer in the iPads bluetooth connection menu first, then select the printer via the configuration menu on the PoS.

  • If the printer is not showing up on the bluetooth menu, try toggling the bluetooth on the iPad off and back on. Also check that the printer is not paired to a different terminal already.

  • If the printer shows up in the saved devices list on the iPad’s bluetooth menu when it is not connected, select “Forget this device” before trying to connect.

  • Keep in mind that radios and similar devices in close proximity can disrupt the bluetooth connection between the iPod and the printer.

  • See the Bluetooth Printer Troubleshooting guide for more details.

BOCA Printer

  • ACME recommends setting up a standard maintenance schedule to keep the printers in good working order.

  • ACME strongly discourages the use of sticker stock with the Boca ticket printer. Should the venue choose to use sticker stock with their ticket printers, the venue is responsible for all maintenance of the ticket printer and should work directly with Boca.

  • Always use BOCA original ticket stock, and ensure that the ticket stock DPI matches the DPI of your printers.

Ethernet Connection (recommended)

  • iPad and Boca printer must be connected to the same network, then use a test ticket to key in the printer’s IP address via the configuration menu on the PoS.

  • If the iPad can’t reach the printer, then either:

    • The iPad or printer can’t connect to the network

    • The iPad and printer are connected to different networks

  • See the Ethernet Printer Troubleshooting guide for more details.

Bluetooth Connection

  • Must connect to the Boca printer in the iPads bluetooth connection menu first, then select the printer via the configuration menu on the PoS.

Socket Scanner for Membership Lookup

  • Must connect to the scanner in the iPads bluetooth connection menu. Consider labeling the scanners with their IDs to make pairing devices easier.

  • If the scanner shows up in the saved devices list on the iPad’s bluetooth menu when it is not connected, select “Forget this device” before trying to connect.

  • When using a Socket scanner with the PoS to assist with membership lookup, ensure the scanner is configured in Keyboard Mode.

  • If you want to have hands-free scanning, enable the Auto-on setting and ensure that there is a constant power supply for the scanners in this mode.

  • Keep in mind that radios and similar devices in close proximity can disrupt the bluetooth connection between the iPad and the scanner.

Zebra Mobile Printer

  • Printers come with a small starter roll of receipt paper, so we recommend stocking up before go-live. Additional rolls of receipt paper can be purchased from any major office supply store. Please see the User Manual for specifications.

  • Must connect to the printer in the iPads bluetooth connection menu first, then select the printer via the configuration menu on the PoS.

  • This printer can be used for receipts and tickets, and must be enabled separately in the PoS configuration menu for each.

  • If the printer is not showing up on the bluetooth menu, try toggling the bluetooth on the iPad off and back on.

  • If the printer shows up in the saved devices list on the iPad’s bluetooth menu when it is not connected, select “Forget this device” before trying to connect.

  • Keep in mind that radios and similar devices in close proximity can disrupt the bluetooth connection between the iPod and the printer.

Access Control Devices

iPod

  • To successfully run ACME AC, we require high-speed internet. We recommend having a WiFI access point near the scanner’s location of use for strongest performance.

  • ACME recommends having hotspots to use for back-up connectivity in case of local network issues.

  • Keep in mind that radios and similar devices in close proximity can disrupt the bluetooth connection between the iPod and the scanner.

Socket Scanner

  • See the Setting up Access Control guide for specific details on pairing an iPod and scanner using the Socket Companion app.

  • If the scanner shows up in the saved devices list on the iPad’s bluetooth menu when it is not connected, select “Forget this device” before trying to connect.

  • Consider labeling the scanners with their IDs to make pairing devices easier.

  • For best performance, ensure the screen is as bright as possible when scanning a ticket from an electronic device.

  • When scanning, it’s recommended to start close to the QR code and move the scanner away from the code while the laser is active.
