The Pass Ranges configuration feature is to allow visitors with pre-defined admission passes to enter your venue through Access Control scanning without a ticket. This feature is designed to accommodate external pass programs with numeric ranges. When a pass is presented at Access Control and scanned on an access control device, the pass is verified against the configured admission logic.

Note: Pass ranges do not create an ACME order or deplete from ticket inventory. It is simply a mechanism to allow a visitor with a valid pass to bypass the ticket desk and enter through an access control checkpoint.

Create a Pass Range Program

One or multiple pass range programs can be configured in ACME. For example you may have a unique pass program configuration per season.

  1. Go to Settings, Pass Ranges
  2. Click the Create Pass Program button on the upper right
  3. Enter a name for the pass program
  4. In the Series tab, define to number of characters in the pass barcode
  5. Click the Add a series button

Note: ACME Pass Programs cannot exceed 100,000 unique passes per program. If a program generates more than 100,000 passes, you will need to break this down into multiple ranges.

Add a Series

A minimum of one series must be configured for the pass range. You may have multiple series for a program. For example, a series may exist per visitor type (Adult, Child).

Each series can have multiple segments, to define specific components of the pass barcode.

  1. After clicking the Add a series button, indicate the Title to display on scanner. This will appear in access control when scanning the pass. This value should be meaningful to your front line staff. (e.g. "VIP Guest", "Education Pass - Adult", "Library Pass", etc.)
  2. Construct the series segments. The total number of characters must match the total defined. A segment can be any of the following:
    • Unique Identifier: can be used to define a prefix or suffix segment
    • Fixed String: can be used to define a dash or naming convention (such as a season year) as a segment
    • Ascending Range: This type cannot begin with a 0. If you need a leading zero you can configure this in a unique identifier segment prior to the ascending range segment. Here is an example of one that must have a leading zero before a season year of 2010 and an identifier code of 30:
    • Descending Range
  3. Once all segments are defined, you can continue to add more series if needed. For example, you may have a series for Adult passes and another series for Child passes, and both passes are part of the same program.
  4. Click save once all series are added.
  5. Go to the Settings tab
  6. Select whether the pass allows a guest or if it admits the passholder only (No Guests Allowed).
    • No Guests Allowed: Admits the passholder only. This will not require a ticket type selection and will always have a scan quantity of 1.
    • Allowed Guests: Indicate the number of guests to be admitted with the passholder. If populated, the pass will require an event and ticket type selection with the scan. Upon scanning the barcode, select the number of people entering with the pass.
  7. Set the valid date range for the pass to be accepted.
    • If the pass is scanned outside of the date range, it will not be valid.
    • Perpetual (no end date): check this box if the pass never expires.
  8. Select whether the pass is valid for a single or repeat visits
    • One Visit: After the first scan, the pass is no longer valid. This is recommended for one-time use passes.
    • Max Visits: If there is a cap to the number of uses, enter a number. If populated, all scans after the nth scan defined will result in an error as the passholder has exceed their usage.
    • Unlimited visits: For unlimited entry within the defined date range, select this option.
  9. Click Publish to finalize your configuration.  The pass ranges are now ready to be scanned!
IMPORTANT: Once you publish a pass program, you cannot make changes to it, you can only cancel it entirely. Double check your work before publishing. You can always test in your sandbox environment before launching this solution!

Generating and Distributing Pass Ranges

ACME does not produce or issue passes for distribution. This configuration is intended to allow a pass to be scanned, checked for validity, and reported. It does not matter if you print passes in-house or through an external vendor - just make sure that the item to be scanned is a barcode with a value that matches the configuration you published.
