Following best practices for closing up hardware at the end of day will ensure a more smooth opening the following day, and will help prevent unexpected hardware or connectivity issues. Our current best practice recommendations for hardware EOD processes are detailed below.

Point Of Sale

iPads

Ideally, your POS terminals are in a secure location with power access. If that is the case, all you need to do is:

  1. Have staff log out at the end of their shift
  2. Force close the ACME Sales App
  3. Leave the iPad plugged into power

If you need to move your iPads to a secure location overnight and cannot leave them in place, then you will also want to make sure you have both the individual devices and the stations well labeled to make sure the peripherals reconnect as expected the next day.

EMV Readers

We recommend leaving your EMV card readers plugged into power and turned on overnight, so that they can take any firmware updates that may get pushed out.

Access Control

iPhones/iPods

  1. Have staff log out at the end of their shift
  2. Force close the ACME AC App
  3. Leave the device plugged into power
