To import memberships, ACME requires up to three separate files for the different data points required to successfully create a full record. There are required fields in each file in order for the import to be successful. The total list of fields and highlighted required fields are outlined below by file type.

Membership ID* The ID associated with the membership. This is typically printed on the member's card.

Membership Import ID* A unique identifier for the membership, typically a system or database ID that cannot be edited.

Date Joined* The date the member was first acquired.

Standing* The status of the membership (Active, Lapsed)

Record Type* Defines whether the membership is associated with an individual or organization  (I, O)
Membership Expiration Date*
The date the membership expires.

Customer ID* The ID associated with the customer/constituent/contact

Customer Import ID* A unique identifier for the customer/constituent/contact, typically a system or database ID that cannot be edited

For each cardholder (at least one cardholder must be present in the file), include the following 7 columns. If you have 2 cardholders, there should be 14 additional columns.
Customer ID* Required for primary cardholder only

Membership Card Import ID* A unique identifier for the membership card object. Must be unique per cardholder.

Membership Card Name on card* How the member's name is displayed on their membership card, e.g. "Jenny Lopez"
Membership Card Type*
Primary, Secondary
Only one cardholder may be the primary cardholder. At least one primary cardholder must be present in the file.
Membership Card Valid From Date* Start date of the membership card. 
Format: mm/dd/yyyy 
Membership Card Valid To Date*
End date of the membership card. Typically the same value as the expiration date of the membership.

Organization File

The organization file is only needed if you are importing organization memberships. If all memberships are for individuals only, then you only need to import the Membership and Customer files.
