This article will walk you through how to enable an ethernet connection for your ACME Sales terminal.

What you will need:

  • An iPad running iOS 10 or later
  • An Apple Ethernet Adapter
  • An Apple USB 3 Camera Adapter
  • An Apple iPad power supply with a USB to Lightning cable
  • An ethernet or network patch cable

  1. Connect the Apple USB 3 Camera Adapter into the Lightning port of your iPad.

  2. Connect the Apple Ethernet adapter and ethernet cable into the USB 3 Camera adapter. Ensure that the ethernet cable is also connected to your network router or switch.

    • Note: If you are connecting multiple peripherals to your iPad at the same time, a USB hub can be used to connect the ethernet adapter and other devices to the USB 3 Camera Adapter.

  3. Connect Power from your surge protector or outlet into the USB 3 Camera adapter.

  4. Turn the iPad on if it is not already.

  5. Under the iPad Settings menu, you should now see an Ethernet sub-menu appear underneath the Wi-Fi menu. Select this menu to verify that the ethernet signal is reaching the iPad.

    • Note that the iPad will connect to the network using a DHCP method by default but a static IP address can also be configured in this menu.

  6. Open a web browser on your iPad and confirm that it is properly connecting to the Internet.

If for any reason you are not able to connect to the Internet, verify that all of the components are plugged in and then contact your local IT administrator.
