1 - Import orders into our DEP and assign them to AirWatch

     deploy.apple.com

     Manage Devices

     Choose Devices By: Order Number

Type "All available" into the search box*

Choose Assign to Server and AirWatch in the Pulldowns

     Click OK

*It's ok that a device has already been assigned, choosing "All available" makes sure you're completely up to date

2 - Import DEP Devices into AirWatch

     Groups and Settings>All Settings>Devices & Users>Apple>Device Enrollment Program

Click Sync Devices in the middle section.  This is the most important step, if the devices aren't up to date and you provision one, you'll have to wipe the device and redo it once it gets into DEP.

     Click Save

The devices that were just ordered should show up in Devices>Lifecycle>Enrollment Status with a source of Apple Enrollment Program.  If your device isn't there, stop and retry from step 1 above.

3 - Collect info about the device and end user

     Device Serial Number

     Client

     Location (box office/backoffice/etc)

4 - Set up an Apple ID (if necessary)

Each site should have 1 apple ID.  Ex. All of Client 1's devices should be under the client01_devices@acmeticketing.com Apple ID.  If the client already has an Apple ID set up, use that one.

Record the Apple ID and Password for the tenant in the AirWatch Registrations spreadsheet

     Scheme: clientname_devices@acmeticketing.com for client users

               device+internal@acmeticketing.com for internal employees

5 - Set up an AirWatch ID (if necessary)

Each tenant should have 1 AirWatch ID.  Ex. All of Client 1's devices will use the Client01 AirWatch ID.  If the client already has an AirWatch ID set up, use that one.

Record the AirWatch ID and Password for the tenant in the AirWatch Registrations spreadsheet.

Scheme: Client - Username: clientname | Display Name: Client Name

Ex. Username: RWF | Display Name: Red and White Fleet

Internal - Username: First initial last name (ex. jbarfield)

Display Name: First Last (ex. Jason Barfield)

External - Same scheme as internal but must be approved.

6 - Provision the Device

Using the Apple ID and AirWatch ID provided, set up the device.  It's important that the device is set up from scratch because this is the only time it checks for DEP registration.  If the device has been used before, you must wipe it and start over.

During provisioning (before Siri) you should see a message for Remote Management stating that, "ACME Technologies is going to set up your device."  If you don't see that, you'll need to wipe the device and start over.  The most likely causes are: The device hasn't been preregistered through DEP in AirWatch (1) or it's already in use and needs to be wiped.

7 - Name the Device

Once the device is provisioned, it must be named in AirWatch.  If the device is an external device, it must be tagged to the correct profile settings and/or apps.  If it's an internal device, the user must be added to the Internal Testing user group.

Use the serial number to find, name and tag the device.

     Device Name Scheme:

     Clients

Client Name Device Type - Location ## (ex. Hogwarts iPad - Box 01)

     Internal

Department Name Device Type - User First Name ## (ex. Engineering iPad Pro - Jason 01)

     External

External Device Type - Company - User ##  (ex. External iPad - Delta - Sam 01)

After naming the device, a label with the exact same name should be applied to it for tracking purposes.  This is how we're going to keep up with and support the devices.  The names on the devices should match the names in AirWatch exactly.

Record the device name and serial number in the AirWatch Registration Spreadsheet

8 - Tag the Device

After naming the device, tag it from the device details view

     More>Add Tag

     Select the appropriate tags

     Internal Devices: ACME Internal Device

Client Devices: Production - Device Type

                         Client

                         DEP

Client Name (you may need to add a new client to the list)

Sandbox - X (only if the device needs access to the sandbox apps.  most will not)
